Beth Shaw is a passionate activist for the WA community.
She has completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Laws at The University of Western Australia, and during this time has become heavily involved in community work, serving as the Editor of the UWA Student Newspaper, the President of the UWA Law Students’ Society, Chair of the City of Perth Youth Advisory Council and a Student Editor on the UWA Law Review.
In 2008, Beth was selected to be the Australian Youth Representative to the United Nations where she spent 5 months travelling around Australia consulting young people in each State.
She was recognised as the 2009 WA Citizen of the Year in the ‘Youth’ category and is currently the Chair of the Perth Chapter of Young UNIFEM, which she established last year.
Beth is now completing her Articles of Clerkship at the State Solicitor’s Office and tutoring at the UWA Law School, and also sits on the Board of Directors for two non-profit organisations – the Inspire Foundation and the Left Right Think Tank. Wow – please welcome Beth to share her story.
